The Iranian city of Shiraz is to host the 1st Peace Int’l Film Festival in December 2017.

The historic Iranian city of Shiraz has been set to host the 1st edition of the Peace International Film Festival in December 2017.

Organized by Mehraz Art and Cultural institute in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Fars Province, the festival is slated for December 2-6.

The event will highlight movies promoting peace and friendship as well as the titles related to children’s issues, including education, child labor and violence against children, the public relations office of the festival announced during a press release.

The films that reflect on topics such as patience, humanitarianism, loyalty, fondness, poverty and hunger suffrage, justice and development, protecting environment, climate change, as well as intercultural dialogue and promote a violence-free world will also be considered by the festival’s selection committee.

Shiraz, capital of Fars Province, is a city in south-central Iran, known for its literary history and many gardens.

The marble Tomb of Hafez, honoring the revered poet, sits within its own garden.

The Mausoleum of Sadi houses the 13th-century writer’s mosaic-tiled tomb and an underground pool.

Shiraz is a gateway to Persepolis, the ruined 6th-century-BC capital with its immense gateways, columns and friezes.
